“There is such sweetness inside of the book, too.  Such things…adventure, knowledge, wisdom.  But those things do not come easily.  You have to pursue them… you must chase these things through the pages of a book.”

Commemorative Books Program

What is the Commemorative Books Program?

The Commemorative Books program is a great way to give a gift to your child and to the entire Westwood community. Here’s how it works:

When you make a donation of $10 in your child’s name for a birthday or other special occasion, he or she will be called to the library to select a book to add to the library offerings. There are many terrific books to choose from, both fiction and nonfiction and at a variety of reading levels. Once your child chooses a book, a plate bearing your child’s name (similar to the one shown) will be placed in the book.

Your child then gets to sign his or her book out first! Children love taking out “their book” and sharing it with you at home. All of the children at Westwood Elementary benefit since the books available for this program do not circulate until they are chosen by a child! The books available are carefully selected from quality titles we do not currently have in our library.

To purchase a commemorative book, print the Commemorative Books form and return it with a check for $10 payable to Westwood PTO. Mark the envelope “Commemorative Books.”
