Homework Policy

The first grade teachers regularly send home both "just right" books that the students have read in a guided reading group and Math Home Links from the Everyday Math series. The first grade teachers believe that homework should take between 10-15 minutes.

Homework in first grade is meant to provide additional practice about concepts that have been taught during the school day.  It is also meant to give the first grade students a sense of responsibility.  They should be able to complete the homework (with help from mom and dad if necessary) and turn their work into their teacher the next day.
