Topics for 2002-2003
  • Self-determination of social status and classes.
  • Censorship - does the news media slant the truth, does the government force them to, how much, and how does it effect us?
  • Humor - why is it important and how does it affect us?
  • Why does our culture focus on youth?
  • Super heroes and Villains - How do they impact society, why are we so entertained by them, and do we have them in real life?
  • Death - What is the soul, and what happens when you die?
  • Wholeness - The idea that the world's problems should be looked at as a vast series of cause-and-effect rather than individual problems.
  • Apathy - Nietzsche and C.S. Lewis both predicted a decline in the passions and intensity of mankind, for good or evil, and how eventually it'll meet in the middle and become apathy.
  • Justice - Kant's theory of Justice was discussed by visiting Philosophy Alumnus Julie Hanover.
  • Movie: The Waking Life - Stunning compilation and dialog covering many philosophies.
