The goal of this program is to jump start a speech & debate program
at the High School. Currently 3 students are participating in this program.
Interest at the High School was much larger but without an official
coach it has been difficult to sustain interest. Students in this program
will be able to participate in district and out of district tournaments.
Funding is requested to cover the cost for fees and materials for 2
years to give the program a chance to take hold and generate student
and faculty interest.

Funding is requested to purchase a versatile enlarged keyboard ,that
plugs into a computer’s USB port, and it’s software program. The keyboard
is capable of meeting the needs of students who face challenges ranging
from learning disabilities to significant physical disabilities.

Funding is requested to purchase an interactive response system. Most
students are digital learners who are highly adapt at, and interested
in, using technology to learn, work and play. The interactive classroom
allows students to be more actively engaged in their learning experience.
The teacher will be able to evaluate his/her students immediately and
tailor the lesson accordingly.

Anywhere Learning with iPods (Elementary
5th Grade)
Listening to authors or professional readers narrate books lends a certain
element that teachers cannot match. The applicant would like to bring
iPods into the classroom to allow students to read along with the book’s
narration in any kind of setting, anytime, anywhere.

and WestG. TV (High School)
WestG TV currently acts as a small television station in order to give
students real world experience. This group would like to expand their
presence to the internet and pod casting community. WestG TV’s goal
is to establish an easily identifiable website. The site would contain
all the video and audio content provided by students and staff of the
entire WG Local School community. Funding is requested to purchase 2
each of the following: iPod ($300.00), video editing software ($700.00),
MP3 recorder ($250.00), computer ($2,000.00).

Project
COOL Elementary School Program Challenge
This program is the development of a Center for Outdoor
Observation and Learning at one of the elementary schools. The Program
Challenge students will create trails, observation areas and a wetland
lab. The site will also include an amphitheater and a pavilion/education
station. Funding is requested to purchase several testing kits, videos,
etc., wind powered generator, dissectible fuel cell, pavilion material,
logs, mulch, bat house, native plants and seeds, substitute teacher.
